JUDI'S COLLAGE

The top right male and female are Sophie's parents who never came from Russia.  Under them is Harry's mother, Freyda, who did come to the US.

The samovar she is holding is the one I have.  Sophie brought it over when she came, but visually it looks better this way.  They represent Russia.

On the left is Sophie and Harry in Central Park soon after they arrived here.  The Yiddish is actually a tribute to Harry on his 60th birthday.  If your Hebrew is not to rusty you might be able to pick out his name, Harry Lipsitz, near the beginning.

My mother is in the bottom right.

The shipping document is from when Harry's brother Isaac came from Russia in 1923.  I placed the figures so all you can see is the 3 because that is about when Sophie and Harry must have come.

Next to the figure of Harry is the Russian Kocoii, which we have always referred to as Kossoff, but Dan Meerson now thinks is more like Kosoi, although I have another document that is Kosoj. Isaac hated it here and went back to Russia.  the whole theme for the collage is Transition - from Russia to here, from Russian to Yiddish to English (I didn't get that in although you can see Mich. above my mother's head, which is where Isaac was going), in clothing...  I think it tells quite a story.
