Adults-Teens Encounter Christ retreat weekend

A-TEC (Adults-Teens Encounter Christ) is a three-day Catholic weekend usually beginning on Saturday morning and ending on Monday. A-TEC is a special experience in living the Catholic faith as good, active Christians.

The goals of the A-TEC weekend are:

To accept ourselves and others as good and valuable creations of God
To become more aware of Jesus being present in our lives
To strengthen and encourage interest in and reading of the bible
To deepen appreciation of the sacreaments, especially the Eucharist and Reconciliation
To build openness and friendship between people of different ages and parishes

The weekend is called A-TEC because both adults and young people are invited to participate. Anyone who is 16 years old or older or a junior in high schoool are welcome to make an A-TEC weekend. Most of those participating are young people in high school or of college age. However, there usually are some older adults making each weekend also.

Riverbend A-TEC is the name chosen for the A-TEC weekends in the Diocese of New Ulm. The first Riverbend A-TEC weekend was held in April of 1977 with the approval and encouragement of Bishop Raymond Lucker. Since then over 150 A-TEC weekends have been held in the Diocese of New Ulm. The 150th weekend was held in August 1998. Riverbend A-TEC is part of the youth ministry supported in the Diocese of New Ulm under the direction of the Diocesan Director of Youth Ministry. Father Denny Labat has been the coordinator for Riverbend A-TEC since 1979. He may be contacted for more information or an application form.
