What does it mean to "label" someone ?

... different aspects of my life ... could be used to provide some insight into who I am and what I've done during my life. Using that information might help someone to describe me but not to label me. After all, the only acceptable label that can be applied to me is "Dave Grams" . Any other label limits who I am and who I can be. You see, ... , when someone applies a label to something or someone, they apply their concept or idea as to what that particular label means. Many times their "label concept" includes information about the object or person that does not fit the object or person being labeled. However, because the labeler used their label to describe the individual, they added their description to the individual even when it did not apply. When they do that, sometimes they make a "judgment call" on who or what that individual is.

Have you ever been judged incorrectly by another? It's happened to me. It really hurts, doesn't it? Sometimes it is real devastating to an individual. I think that it is because of this hurt that Jesus says that we should not judge another lest we be judged in a similar manner (Matthew 7:1-2).
