My name is Rita Geiger and I live in southern Minnesota. My first Chihuahua was purchased from Liz Johnson of Evergreen Chihuahuas in 1981. His name was Scooter and his career in obedience was ended tragically by a German Shepherd.
I have been breeding Chihuahuas since 1983. My first bitch Hurds Caramel Crème was acquired from Max Hurd in 1982. CeCe broke her leg and never entered the show ring. She became my foundation going back to Shroyer lines and produced a free whelping line that is in its 5th generation . not one c-section. My first litter produced three long coat puppies: Ch. Geigers Tiger Mask of Hurd(Spike), Tootsie, and Manuel of Evergreen CD owned by Elizabeth Johnson. Manuel sired 10 champions while Spike became our beloved pet. When I repeated the breeding it produced BISS Ch. Geigers Twinkie of Hurd CDX who is in the pedigrees of all my Chihuahuas.

Spike, Twinkie and CeCe
| Geigers Chihuahuas on the
Internet began as a tribute to BISS CH. Geigers Twinkie
of Hurd CDX. Being an obedience competitor, my site
includes the instructions for making your own obedience
jumps and scent articles. For a perspective on Chihuahuas
in the obedience ring read Obedience
and the Chihuahua, which was
published in the Dec 97 issue of Top Notch Toys. Also visit my
Performance Chihuahuas page. Except for an occasional hand from a friend at ringside, I breed, train and show all my own dogs. I do very limited breeding producing no more then 5 litters a year and my Chihuahuas all live in the house. Because we usually keep our retired show dogs as pets, it limits the number of Chis I can keep for breeding and showing. I believe in titling a dog on both ends so it is not unusual for them to start obedience after earning their AKC Championship. My premier accomplishment in Chihuahuas is U-CDX CH. Geigers Masked Bandito UD. He was the first Chihuahua to qualify in Utility at the CCA National doing it twice. To top that off, he went High Combined in 1994 and 1996. This requires a dog to qualify in both Open and Utility on the same day/trial. He is the first Super Utility Chihuahua, an honor bestowed by Front and Finish an obedience publication. Bandit retired in 1998 with 5 UDX legs. His son CH. Geiger's Painted Pony UD followed in his sire's pawprints and earned his 1st Utility leg in mid Sept, 02; the second leg at the 2002 Chihuahua Club of America National Specialty AND High Combined. Two weeks later he completed the requirements for his Utility Dog title with a 1st place at Rapid City, SD. I have made many friends through my website. I do offer Chihuahuas for sale on my Internet site but require that I meet the prospective buyer in person. One plus is that people can view my dogs without leaving the comfort of their home and via email, discuss Chihuahua issues and whether it is the breed for them.
