Email Configuration For Netscape 4.5 and 4.7

This online manual will guide you through adding your HickoryTech email address(es) to Netscape 4.5 or 4.7 for Windows or Macintosh

To Begin, Open Netscape. You may have an icon on your desktop, or it may be located on your START button (for Windows users).

  • Click the Edit menu at the top of the window
  • Select Preferences

  • Click the Plus sign (+) next to mail & newsgroups
  • Click on the Mail Servers category
  • Click the ADD button

  • In the Server Name box, enter: pop.hickorytech.net
  • In the Server Type box, select POP3 Server
  • In the User Name box, enter your Login name. Your login name can be found on your user information sheet.
  • Place a check next to Remember password
  • Click the POP tab along the top of the window

  • Remove the check next to Leave messages on server
  • Click OK

  • In the Outgoing mail server box, enter: smtp.hickorytech.net
  • Be sure under Use Secure Socket Layer that never is selected
  • Click OK

  • The completes the email configuration for Netscape.
  • To begin using email, select Messenger from the netscape floating menu or from the Communicator menu.
