The Amazing Maurice and his Educated
Rodents by Terry Pratchett
A review by Sara Froehlich
Once again Terry Pratchett proves anything is fair
game for his razor wit and satire. In this delightful tale, the Pied
Piper of Hamlin has nothing on Maurice!
A boy and his cat travel to Überwald. A vacation?
Not likely...travelling to avoid the Watch, Maurice the
cat has bigger fish to fry...er, rats to lead out of town. These
rats, however, are in on the take! The Pied Piper scam works
to
perfection
until
they
reach the town of Bad Blintz and then things get complicated.
Any reader of the Discworld series will enjoy this
book. Targeted for ages 9-12 it's really not just a children's book.
If you are a reader of previous Discworld escapades you will appreciate
the humor Pratchett has woven through all of the Disworld novels,
and recognize familiar landmarks and references.
If you have never read a Discworld novel, this is a
fine start, especially for children. |
